My humans
took me for a walk. I got to roll and
sniff bushes. I got to go all over. It was fun.
We did our
morning walk early. At 6 am, it was
about 80, but since the sun was not high, it was actually quite nice for
walking. We walked the ‘hood’, then
Spouse went back and I did more on my own.
I listen to true crime podcasts, and so many times, the situation
happens when someone is out walking or jogging alone… just like me…
We readied
Artie, then headed to the Virgin River Casino where Spouse gets his favorite
breakfast on the planet. The hamsteak is
enormous and he revels in its wonder.
Both of us had only half, saving the other half for tomorrow. We then hit the road. It is about 8:30 when we leave, and it is
over 100 degrees. Ugh…
Up I15,
through the Virgin River Gorge, we lose an hour. Into Utah we go. Utah is a beautiful state. Red rocks, ocher rocks, mountains, mesas,
high desert with ponderosa pines to keep it varied and green. Once again, Spouse and I rotate driving. We get to I70 to head east. Crap!
It’s closed! We need to
detour. We go the extra off ramp, and I
hand the steering wheel back to Spouse so he can deal with the road
construction.
Once on I70,
the road is divided by giant construction barrels. The truck in front of us skims up against
quite a few. The speed limit is reduced
to 60MPH. the truck slows to about
25mph. For mile after mile. Slow, slow slow… After about 7 miles, the road opens and we
ditch that slow ass truck in a hot second!
Our goal is
to make it to Green River. Another long
day of driving (about an hour less than yesterday). But, there really aren’t many options once
you are on I70. At Green River, we
fueled, then saw a sign for a state park.
We checked it out. It is right on
the Green River, and nearly empty.
PERFECT!
