Eye candy to eye sore!

September 14, 2015

ME-OWT!   ME-OWT!  We are in a new place and ooooh, I want to explore!  I am trying the screen door at the bottom.  Lemme try higher than that.  ME-OWT!  ME-OWT!  ME-OWT!

We left our KOA Kampground and proceeded west on hwy 2 through the town of Leavenworth.  It is the cutest little Bavarian town (a la Solvang is to Danish).  Lots of  gingerbread architecture with beautiful flowers cascading from flower boxes in the windows and on balconies.  The alpine architecture combines with the alpine mountains known as the Cascades.  Beautiful granite cliffs tower above with firs, aspens and maples accentuating the scenery.  The Wasatchee River winds through the valley adding to the picture with the cherry on the sundae being the undergrowth's brilliant fall colors.  The contrast is stunning and goes on for miles.  We ooh and we aahh, but there are not a lot of places to stop for pictures.

What a recreation area.  There are hiking trails, zip lines, river rafting and rock climbing.  There is even a ski area.  The clouds threaten rain, but it stays dry for the ride.  And all of this is less than 2 hours from Seattle.  Pretty amazing.

We are headed to Gig Harbor on the sound side of Seattle.  We keep off the main highways as much as possible, but eventually, we must get on I5 heading south to Tacoma.  As usual, there is traffic.  Seattle is just as bad as Los Angeles when it comes to traffic.  Staying off the interstates gives us a chance to enjoy the scenery.  There are farms and tiny towns.  On the interstates, there is traffic.  Oh well, we get to Gig Harbor and the RV resort there.  We have stayed here before and we get a great big woodsy site.  Rudy is going bonkers wanting to explore.

We barely settle in when I see that the Angels are playing in Seattle.  How cool is that!  So off we go to the ballgame.  Spouse sprung for some expensive seats right at first base, 3 rows in.  Yes, this is my Spouse Brown!  He happens to be wearing his t-shirt that we got when we saw the Dodgers in Colorado last year, and the guy that sold us our tickets recognized it!  What a view!  We are right next to the Seattle dugout.  Garrett Richards is pitching for the Angels and Tijuan Walker for Seattle.  I tried not to get excited when the Angels scored the first run.  And that is all she wrote as Seattle went on to pulverize the Angels 10-1.

Oh, did Poopsie hit his head on the cabinet door?  CLOSE THE DARNED CABINET DOOR!
